Hi, I’m Sheila, and I’m the photographer behind Castle Color Photography.
Don’t be surprised if I show up to our session in sweatpants and a tank top, or shorts and a t-shirt! I’m often in the sand and water during shoots, so I gave up on dressing up a long time ago. As a busy mom constantly on the go, comfort is key for me!
Growing up, my family owned a portrait studio in Ohio (that’s where the name Castle Color Photography comes from). While I never lived there, I spent a lot of time at the studio, which ignited my passion for photography at a young age. As a teenager, I also dabbled in modeling, which gave me a deeper appreciation for the art of capturing moments, creativity, and emotions through the lens.
Now, I’m fortunate to live here on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where I’ve spent my entire life. This area is a constant source of inspiration for me, and I’m excited to help you preserve the beauty of your own memories through photography. My goal is to create images that last a lifetime—whether it’s a family album, a stunning portrait for your wall, or a special photo to look back on for years to come. I’ve always been the one behind the camera in my family (which means I’m often missing from the photos!), but now I’m thrilled to help fill your albums—and your walls—with meaningful moments that tell your story.
Creative photography is my favorite, and I love working with clients on unique, fun ideas. If you have a vision but aren’t sure how to bring it to life, don’t hesitate to reach out! I’d love to collaborate and make it happen.
When I’m not behind the camera, I spend time with my family, get crafty, and dive into my love of reading (I’m often listening to audiobooks when I’m on the go). I also enjoy hiking, camping, cooking, and gardening. One of my favorite things is going on trips with my family to the mountains, staying in tents, and soaking in nature’s beauty. If you follow me on social media, you’ll often see a book quote paired with my posts—those are from books I’m currently reading or have recently enjoyed.
Photography is more than just a job to me—it’s a passion. I’m so grateful to be able to share it with you and to help you capture the moments that matter most.
