What to Expect from Castle Color Photography
Choosing a photographer is a personal decision. Whether you are visiting the Outer Banks for a family vacation, celebrating a milestone, or you are lucky enough to call this beautiful area home, your photographs should reflect the people and moments that matter most.
Your photos are not just images on a screen. They are memories you will return to for years, and the person you choose to capture them should be someone whose process and personality make you feel comfortable.
At Castle Color Photography, my goal is to create a relaxed and meaningful experience where you can enjoy the moment instead of feeling like you are simply posing for a camera.
A Relaxed Experience, not a Rushed Session
I intentionally limit the number of sessions I book each week so I can give every client the time, attention, and flexibility they deserve.
Photography does not always happen on a perfect timeline. Children may need time to warm up, someone may need a few extra minutes to feel comfortable, or the weather may decide to change our plans.
My goal is not to rush through your Outer Banks photography session just to stay on a schedule. I want to create an environment where genuine smiles, connection, and meaningful moments have room to happen.
Planning for Outer Banks Weather
The Outer Banks is a beautiful place, but coastal weather can be unpredictable.
Sun, clouds, wind, and even a passing shower can all become part of your experience. Some of my favorite beach photographs happen when conditions are unexpected, and I am always willing to work with the weather we are given.
When booking your session, we will choose two possible dates whenever possible. Having a backup date gives us flexibility and helps provide the best opportunity for beautiful final images.
If you are visiting the Outer Banks for vacation, I recommend scheduling your photography session earlier in your stay whenever possible. While we always hope for perfect weather, coastal conditions can change quickly, and having additional days available gives us more options if we need to reschedule due to rain, storms, or unsafe conditions.
Sessions scheduled toward the end of a vacation may have fewer rescheduling options available, simply because there may not be enough time remaining to find another suitable date. While I will always do my best to work with you, weather is something none of us can control.
For weather-related decisions, I typically make the call around 5:00 PM on the day of your session. My priority is always creating the best possible photographs while keeping everyone safe.
I am happy to wait out passing showers, adjust timing, or work around changing conditions. However, I will do not want to photograph during lightning or unsafe storm conditions.
Communication Before Your Session
The best way to reach me is by text:
252-305-1393
I do my best to check messages regularly, but I am not always active on Facebook, and social media messages or email may not always be the fastest way to reach me.
If you call, please leave a message. I receive a large number of spam calls, and once I know it is a real person trying to reach me, I will return your call as soon as I am available.
Your Privacy Matters
I do not share every session online, and I never assume that clients are comfortable having their photographs publicly displayed.
Every client has complete control over how their images are shared. Your photographs may be used on my website and social media, shared only on my website, or kept completely private.
Every session includes a questionnaire that allows you to choose your sharing preferences before your images are ever posted. This gives you the opportunity to make the decision that feels right for you and your family.
If your session includes a larger group, extended family, or friends, please remember that everyone included in the photographs should have a say in how those images are shared. If even one person in the group is uncomfortable with their images being publicly displayed, the safest choice is to keep those photographs private.
If you choose to allow your images to be shared, please know that I truly appreciate it. Sharing real sessions helps future clients get a better understanding of my work, my style, and the experience I provide. Seeing genuine families, couples, seniors, and moments captured throughout the Outer Banks helps people make a more informed decision when choosing their photographer.
That being said, your memories belong to you first. Your comfort and privacy will always matter more than growing my portfolio. I am honored to preserve your story in whatever way feels right for you.
Questions Before Booking?
Every family and every situation is different.
If you have questions, a unique circumstance, a special idea, or you are unsure which type of session is right for you, please reach out. I am always happy to have a conversation and see how I can help.
I look forward to learning more about your story and creating photographs that help you remember this season of life.
